Let’s cleanse and nourish our bodies and feel healthier with these simple, easy ways of detoxification!
Detoxification is about getting rid of toxins, resting the body, and nourishing it from the inside out.
Since you’re eliminating toxins in the process, detoxifying can help you stay protected from diseases and renew your ability to maintain optimum health!
In short, detoxification is a vital process to preserve our body!
So how does it work? To detoxify means to cleanse the blood, and this is done by removing blood impurities in the liver and through the skin, lungs, lymphatic system, and kidneys.
Forget about costly spas and retreats! In this post, I’ll share how to detoxify your body with simple diet and lifestyle changes and practices.
1. Switch to Organic Food
Yes, I get you: processed foods are too tempting to resist! But do you know that they lack the nutrients that your body requires to function healthily?
Organic food, on the other hand, has the nutrients in them preserved. Besides, they don’t taste bad, do they?
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially the dark green leafy ones. They are rich in micronutrients yet low in calories, so you can consume a lot without having to worry about your weight.
Add to your diet beans, legumes, and whole grains, and eat plenty of fiber!
2. Take Vitamin C
We all know Vitamin C is key to boosting the immune system, but what we’re not familiar with is the fact that the said vitamin also plays a major role in helping the body produce glutathione, a potent antioxidant that drives away toxins.
3. Cut Back on Sugar
Decreasing the amount of sugar you take gives your organs a rest from their daily grind.
Eating more sugar means your body needs to supply more insulin, straining your pancreas and tiring them out as time goes by.
Not only is it taxing for the pancreas, but this unhealthy habit can also lead to diabetes, excessive weight gain, and chronic fatigue.
As much as possible, avoid any type of sweets including honey and artificial sweeteners.
4. Take Herbs and Drink Tea
Herbs such as burdock, green tea, and dandelion root are beneficial for the liver as they help cleanse and protect the organ.
Tea has caffeine, but such caffeine is milder and gentler than what is in coffee. Green tea is rich in antioxidants that help get rid of toxins.
Tea also hydrates well and fills you up faster, which means you are less likely to overeat.
5. Drink Adequate Water
Aside from hydrating the cells, water offers numerous benefits to the body such as flushing out toxins and wastes, promoting digestion, and boosting metabolism.
Make sure to drink at least 2 quarts of water daily.
To step up the game, you can slice a lemon and add the juice from the half. The lemon gives a refreshing feeling and encourages digestion, so you’ll be ready to face the day!
6. Try Apple Cider Vinegar Detox Drink
Apple Cider Vinegar is known for its weight loss and detoxifying benefits.
The following recipe is a powerful detox drink that can help get rid of toxins and clear the body.
To make it, prepare the following ingredients and mix them together:
- Warm water – 1 glass
- ACV – 2 tbsp.
- Lemon juice – 2 tbsp.
- Ceylon cinnamon – ¼ tsp.
- Cayenne pepper – 1 dash
- Ground ginger – ½ or less – makes it hard to drink
- Raw honey – 1 tsp. (optional to add some sweetness)
Very simple, right? This detox drink gives the body a refreshing and rejuvenating feeling, while at the same time helping you lose weight.
Besides the usual fitness and weight loss benefits of working out, regular exercise promotes blood and lymph fluid circulation. It also strengthens your muscles, reduces tension, and enhances digestion.
Plus, when you exercise, you sweat — a lot! Sweat is the body’s way of removing toxins through the skin.
You don’t have to weight lift or do advanced workouts; you can perform cardio or yoga and feel their impact on your body.
8. Sweat in a Sauna
Remember, sweat is the body’s way to eliminate toxins and wastes through the skin.
Have you ever felt so good after perspiring a lot, either through exercise or in a sauna? That’s what happens when the body gets rid of wastes, plus sweating also helps with weight loss.
And what better way to sweat them out than going in a sauna! Make sure to go regularly and tag a friend along.
9. Practice Deep Breathing
Deep breathing offers a lot of benefits. When we breathe deeply and steadily, we allow oxygen to circulate more completely throughout the entire system, thereby promoting blood flow.
It also calms anxiety, relieves stress, and increases energy. The next time you don’t feel good, try to sit in a corner and be mindful of the way you breathe — deeply, controlled.
10. Practice Hydrotherapy
Water doesn’t only cleanse your inside but also the outside.
Find time to take a hot shower for 5 minutes, allowing the water to drop and run on your back and following with cold water for 30 seconds. Doing so promotes blood circulation, relaxes your body, and relieves the stress of the day.
You don’t have to follow fad processes and approaches to detoxify your body.
The best ways to cleanse it and promote health are the natural means and changes you can do to your diet and lifestyle.
How do you detoxify your body? We’d love to hear from you!
