For us women, every piece of clothing we own has a designated occasion that we want to match.

Every detail is essential: clothes matching, picking the suitable bags, necklaces, and even underwear. All of these are essential to nail our day.

Plus, I understand how important it is to pick our outfit of the day (OOTD) based on our mood.

It’s amazing how confident we can feel by wearing just one item. Right? Especially if you wear the right and most comfortable bra.

When it comes to bras, we have our favorite. It could be a t-shirt bra, push-up bra, or sports bra. Sometimes, even if we’re done preparing our best bra, there are days that we just want to feel comfortable regardless of the kind of bra we wear.

Therefore, for me, there are only two types of bra: The one we love to wear every day. And the other one that we have in our closets but we never find the right time to use.

But have you ever wondered, “how many bras should I own as a woman?”

It is recommended that you own at least nine bras—three bras for your everyday wear and the others in a different style suitable for other occasions.

Total: There are nine bras that you should own

Let’s dig deeper into why we picked these specific bras.

What bras should I own

27% of women say that sometimes, they are skeptical about buying clothes because they don’t have the right bra to wear under them.

That’s why you need to buy different kinds of bras for any event.

I don’t want you to experience being heartbroken for not being able to wear the dress you’ve been planning to wear the whole day. But because of a single bra, you may fail to do so.

Being a woman is indeed challenging in many ways. But since women got each other’s back, I got you covered.

T-shirt bra

A T-shirt bra is a girl’s best friend.

I bet everyone has more than one of them in their wardrobe. It is a kind of bra that has molded-shaped cups and a comfy look.

Therefore, you can rest assured that having two t-shirt bras will not only give you the most everyday comfortable experience but it will also help your breast to form naturally.

A bra like this is meant to be invisible under tight-fitting t-shirts and clingy clothing. You will have nothing to worry about.

Bralette

Styles like this are perfect for all occasions.

You can wear them under sheer ensembles, blazers, and tops with plunging necklines.

Nevertheless, it is fashionable to wear them as crop tops and pair them with cute jeans and a cardigan.

Wearing a bralette is very easy. You’ll feel as if you are not wearing a bra at all. I would recommend having one bralette. Either black or white.

However, I should note that having a bralette is addictive. You will love it as much as I love it.

Sports bra

According to Holly Mountfort, a garment technologist, a sports bra is a must-have for every girl. Then, in the Bustle interview, he suggested getting fitted for a sports bra whenever your breasts start growing.

When wearing a sports bra, you don’t have to be into sports or exercising. Because the primary purpose of this is to give you support throughout your day and feel free to be sweaty.

Thus, I recommend having two of them.

Strapless bra

If there are times you want to feel extra, a strapless bra is for you.

It is best to wear if you want to pull off an off-shoulder or halter-neck style outfit. This bra will give you an assist with an invisible strap.

For all occasions considered, one strapless bra will simplify your life.

Push up bra

For nailing your overall outfit, a push-up bra is a necessity. Yes, it is. It will help you restructure, center, and accentuate your bust. The padding in a push-up bra will do all the work. Whether it has a strap or not, this is the most popular type of bra.

A push-up bra is excellent if you plan to wear an outfit with a low neckline or when you want to highlight your silhouette. Just like other bras, you should get one of them.

Multiway bra

A multiway bra makes up one of the world’s most versatile bras. I really mean it when I say versatile because there are many ways you can wear this.

The straps that detach at one or both ends can be reattached depending on which style you want. You can meet all the needs of your outfit with this.

Tips on how to wear a Multiway bra:

  • Traditional: When both straps are attached front to back or back to front.
  • Strapless: Wear it without the strap. Note: Put the strap in a safe place to prevent it from being lost.
  • Single Strap: When you only need one strap
  • Halter-neck: When a single strap is put in circles around your neck
  • Cross-back: When the straps are crossed across the back

Full-cover bra

If you have a heavier bust size and want to eliminate any movement in your bust, a full-cover bra has your back.

It offers more coverage for the top of your breast, which makes it suitable for fitted clothing.

However, even if you don’t have a heavy bust size, you can still use a full-cover bra. It will add a bit of dimension to your overall look.

Nipple tape

Side note. Even if nipple tape is not recognized as a bra, it is still useful in many ways.

It could be your best partner if you wear a very low-cut dress, backless, or thin top. Plus, on the days when you don’t feel like wearing a bra, nipple tape will do its job.

However, since nipple tape is made of adhesive silicone or hypoallergenic silicone, pick the one closest to your skin type.

How long does an average bra last?

Based on research, a single bra can last up to six-nine months. If it is well taken care of, it can last a year or two.

Joshua Zeichner, M.D., dermatologist, says it is better if you wash your bra once a week. Because if not, dirt, oil, sweat, and bacteria will gather around your bras. Worst, it could lead to acne breakouts and chafed nipples.

Therefore, having nine bras would keep you safe from it.

You can wear each bra a maximum of three times before washing it. But, you must also consider that it is based on how sweaty your day went or what event you are at.

If you are just having an average day, wearing a t-shirt bra and bralette alternately for the whole week is the best choice. It’s so comfortable.

However, even if a single bra can last a year, the amount spent on bras annually reached $16 billion worldwide. That is according to Victoria Secret’s statistics, the biggest manufacturer of luxury lingerie.

Meaning, many women are ready to spend money to provide them the most hassle-free experience when wearing a bra.

Nine bras are just the minimum. The most important part of it is to take good care of your bra.

Even if sometimes it can’t be seen outside, it’s guaranteed that it can add confidence as you nailed your day.
