According to the National Institutes of Health, around 80% of adults experience low back pain. As a matter of fact, it’s the most common reason why people miss work. But it’s not just adults who suffer from back pain. Even children and teens suffer, too.

I know from personal experience that I’ve had to miss a few days of school when I was a teenager because I hurt my back playing basketball. You might be in pain for a different reason. Maybe it’s your posture, or maybe you have scoliosis or some other illness, or maybe it’s age. Whatever it is, you’re going to need rest and to do that, you’re going to need a comfortable mattress.

However, sometimes it’s our mattresses that are the problem. Either they’re too firm or too soft and they don’t give us the right balance of pressure relief and back support. That’s where mattress toppers come in. They’re basically additional pieces of bedding that you can put on top of your mattress to adjust how it feels and physicians often prescribe them for back pain.

There’s a lot of them out there but to help you narrow down your choices, here’s a list of what we think are the best mattress toppers for back pain. We’ll even give short reviews of each to give you a better picture and teach you a few things you should consider before buying one. Let’s get to it!

How we chose

Material

The most commonly sold — and perhaps the best ones — are latex and memory foam. They’re great materials for mattresses but they’re great as toppers, too, particularly because of how well they relieve pain and pressure.

Memory foam conforms to the exact shape of your body, making it great for relieving pressure (and pain) on the tender areas of your back.

The downside, however, is that memory foam tends to sleep hot. A lot of manufacturers infuse their memory foam with other material (e.g. gel and copper) to make them better at toning down temperatures, so we took note of those.

Latex, on the other hand, conforms to the general (not exact) shape of your body, so it might not be as pressure relieving as memory foam but, trust us, it’s still pretty darn good. Plus, it springs back into shape quicker and it’s significantly better at regulating temperature.

Cooling features

Speaking of regulating temperature, research says that both hot and cold affects sleep. Too hot or too cold and you’d more than likely wake up in the middle of your slumber.

Without back pain, that’s just annoying but when you have trouble going to sleep because you’re aching — man, that’s just borderline intolerable.

That being said, when you already have a mattress that does a good job of keeping temperatures the way you want it, your mattress topper should have little to no effect on this. However, if you don’t like how your mattress regulates your sleeping temperature, a mattress topper should help fix this, too.

Thickness and density

Before I say anything else, don’t confuse density for firmness. Modern technology has made it so denser, more durable foams can also be soft.

With that said, mattress toppers, on average, seem to be anywhere between 2-4 inches thick and around 3-5 lbs per cubic foot in terms of density.

We think it’s best to stick to these numbers (and we did) because from what we’ve observed, anything higher or lower runs the risk of compromising support and/or pressure relief, especially over time. This brings us to the next thing we considered.

Durability

Memory foam and latex toppers are typically durable materials that last anywhere between 3-5 years and their thickness and density have a lot to do with it.

Typically, a denser foam is also more durable because it has more material packed per cubic area. The extra material on a thicker mattress and topper generally does the same thing for durability.

With less material, your topper is more likely to sag under your weight — and soon enough, it won’t be able to recover its original shape, losing pressure relief and supportiveness along the way.

On that note, there are other factors that might also affect the durability of the mattress. Maybe the quality just isn’t great to begin with. So, to be sure, we checked what actual customers have to say through their reviews. If there’s anything we found concerning, we’ll be sure to tell you about it.

The overall feel of the topper

This includes firmness, motion isolation, and basically everything else that you’re going to feel when you lie down on your mattress. Anything on a topper that might help you sleep better, we considered.

Price-to-value ratio

While it’s true that expensive products generally tend to be better than their cheaper counterparts, it’s also true that a lot of things on the market are simply overpriced. Mattress toppers are no exception.

So, after checking the material, cooling features, thickness, density, durability, and what the mattress topper feels like, we brainstormed and thought if it was worth the price. Needless to say, all the mattress toppers here, in our opinion, will have great price-to-value ratio.

The best mattress toppers for back pain

To us, the best mattress toppers for back pain are made from memory foam or latex, largely because these two materials are known for exceptional pressure relief and support. When you get a good balance of both, you also put yourself in position for a healthier, pain-free back.

The best mattress topper for back pain should also be able to effectively adjust the feel of your bed to get it exactly how you need it, regardless if it’s firmness, temperature neutrality, or any other thing to make you feel comfortable while you sleep.

That being said, here’s a list of what we think are the best mattress toppers for back pain. Scroll further down to read our short take on the toppers.

  2. Sleep On Latex Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper
  3. Sleep Innovations 4-Inch Dual Layer Mattress Topper
  4. Snuggle-Pedic Memory Foam Mattress Topper
  5. PlushBeds Natural Latex Topper

  8. The Latex for Less Topper
  9. DreamFoam Bedding (Brooklyn Bedding) 3-Inch Talalay Latex Topper
  10. Best Price 4-Inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Pros
  • Affordable
  • Gel memory foam sleeps cooler than regular memory foam
  • Great addition to firm mattresses (adds pressure relief and motion isolation to an already supportive mattress)
  • 60-day return period
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Cons
  • Thin. We don’t recommend this to larger sleepers.

To us, the Advanced Sleep Solutions Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper is a pretty basic topper but its simplicity is also why it’s one of the best for back pain.

As it is with gel memory foam, this material is great for pressure relief, body conformity, motion isolation, and is better at keeping you cool compared to regular memory foam.

It’s also rated as a medium-soft topper, so we recommend adding this to a firm mattress. Combined, the softness of the topper should help soothe the tender areas of your back while the firmness of the mattress keeps your spine in its neutral position.

However, since it’s only 2 inches thick, we wouldn’t recommend this to larger sleepers. It’s simply too thin to properly distribute the extra weight. That said, durability shouldn’t be an issue since its density of 3.3 lb/ft³ should be plenty to accommodate petite and average weight sleepers.

Another thing we noticed about Advanced Sleep Solutions Gel Infused Memory foam Mattress Topper is that both its length and width are an inch shorter than the actual dimension of mattresses. This is so it fits snuggly under fitted sheets of mattresses with rounded edges.

Other features of the Advanced Sleep Solutions Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper:

  • 3-year warranty
  • 60-day return period
  • Free shipping
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Pros
  • BBB accredited business (A+ rating)
  • Multiple firmness and thickness options (great for adjusting the feel of virtually all beds)
  • Inherently durable and breathable
  • Pressure relieving and responsive
  • Optional cover is machine washable
  • 5-year warranty
  • Greenguard Gold, Oeko-Tex, and ecoInstitut Gold certified
Cons
  • Firmer and thicker options are more expensive
  • We don’t recommend the 1-inch topper

Sleep On Latex is a BBB accredited company with an A+ rating. Plus, they make great sleeping products so recommending any of them, regardless if it’s mattresses, toppers, or pillows, is easy.

Speaking of products, the brand’s Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper is 100% natural — no synthetic chemicals or fillers whatsoever.

It also comes in multiple thickness and firmness options. Specifically, it can either be 1, 2, or 3 inches thick and either soft (20 ILD), medium (30 ILD), or firm 44 (ILD). Bear in mind that the thicker and firmer these toppers get, the more expensive they also become.

For thickness, we recommend only the 2 or 3 inch variants. An inch just won’t do much so even if it’s the cheapest, we don’t think it’s worth it.

We’ll leave the firmness up to you but remember, toppers are there to adjust how your mattress feels. So, if your mattress is too firm, choose a soft topper. If it’s too soft, a firm topper should do the trick.

Latex is also naturally durable, pressure relieving, and responsive. It doesn’t trap heat the way memory foam does and it’s inherently breathable, so this topper should also make your bed cooler to sleep on.

You can opt to buy its 2-piece cover if you want. The top part is washable and doesn’t shrink when washed, and it also helps keep the topper in place but do know that it’s not necessary.

Other features of the Sleep On Latex Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper:

  • 5-year warranty
  • 30-day return period
  • Free shipping and returns
  • Greenguard Gold, Oeko-Tex, and ecoInstitut Gold certified
Pros
  • Thick (4 inches)
  • Great pressure relief and motion isolation
  • Sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam
  • Great addition to firmer mattresses
  • The pillow top adds a plush feel to the mattress
  • Machine washable pillow top
  • Generous warranty
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Cons
  • Memory foam may have durability issues
  • Weight of the pillow top may make it challenging to wash

The Sleep Innovations 4-Inch Dual Layer Mattress Topper comes with 2 inches of gel-infused memory foam and 2 inches of fiber-filled pillow top.

The memory foam layer has a density of 3 lb/ft³ so it’s quite durable. However, it’s also a softer foam that we recommend you add only to a firm, supportive mattress — the topper makes the bed more pressure relieving while the firm mattress below it reduces its risk of sagging. This is crucial because we’ve read multiple customer reviews complaining about how this topper’s memory foam layer sags within just a year.

The memory foam layer also isolates movement well and sleeps cooler than traditional memory foam.

On the other hand, the pillow top is there for a more plush feel. It also acts as a cover for the entire mattress. Another good thing about it is that it’s machine washable, so it’s fairly easy to clean.

I say ‘fairly’ because 2 inches of microfiber can be a bit heavy to lug around. Also, washing may take away from the cover’s structure, so you might want to spot clean it first.

Other features of the Sleep Innovations 4-Inch Dual Layer Mattress Topper:

  • 10-year warranty
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Pros
  • From a BBB accredited business (A+ rating)
  • 2 firmness (density) options in 1 topper
  • Feels thicker than it actually is
  • Great pressure relief and motion isolation
  • More supportive than most memory foam toppers
  • Generous warranty and return period
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Cons
  • There’s a tendency for the 2 layers to come apart after a few months

From the company Relief Mart — a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating — the Snuggle-Pedic Memory Foam Mattress Topper is only 2 inches thick.

However, through its design, it actually feels like it’s at least 3 inches. We’ve even read customer reviews saying it feels like a 4-inch topper.

That being said, the Snuggle-Pedic Memory Foam Mattress Topper has 2 layers of memory foam. One side feels softer and has a 4 lb/ft³ density while the other is more supportive with a density of 5 lb/ft³.

Given that both sides have high densities, the idea is that the bottom layer — whichever one you choose to put at the bottom — stops you from bottoming out when you lie on the bed, making it feel thicker than it actually is.

As it is with memory foam, the Snuggle-Pedic Memory Foam Mattress Topper is great at relieving pressure and isolating movement but somehow, it’s actually quite supportive as well.  From what we’ve read, overheating doesn’t seem to be a problem, too, which is always great news for anything that concerns memory foam.

Moreover, this topper comes with a whopping 10-year warranty. A warranty this long doesn’t come everyday for toppers, so this definitely adds value and it also gives us more confidence in its durability.

However, the common issue we found with this mattress topper is that the 2 layers start to come apart after just a few months. The foams themselves seem sturdy, so it’s probably the glue that Snuggle-Pedic uses that’s weak.  Nevertheless, keep this in mind when you make your decision.

Other features of the Snuggle-Pedic Memory Foam Mattress Topper:

  • 10-year warranty
  • 90-day return period
  • Free shipping and returns
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Pros
  • BBB accredited business (A+ rating)
  • Made from 100% natural Talalay latex (hypoallergenic)
  • Naturally breathable, responsive, and durable
  • Multiple thickness and firmness options
  • The right firmness will make your mattress pressure relieving and supportive
  • Optional organic cotton cover
  • Extensive list of certifications
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Returns not accepted
  • Warranty information doesn’t include toppers

From Plush Living, a BBB accredited company with an A+ rating, the PlushBeds Natural Latex Topper is pricey even for a latex topper.

However, we think it’s well worth it especially after seeing all of its certifications. I mean, it’s simply staggering and it only tells us how each of their products are made with quality and health in mind.

That being said, the PlushBeds Natural Latex Topper is made from 100% natural Talalay latex. Meaning, if you suffer from allergies, there’s an excellent chance the innate hypoallergenic nature of pure latex helps you sleep.

Latex is also breathable, responsive, and durable. So durable, in fact, that PlushBeds claims their topper can have a lifespan of up to 20 years. Now, we don’t actually know if it’ll last that long (it probably won’t) but we’re confident in its longevity nonetheless.

Also, this topper comes with multiple thickness (2 or 3 inches) and firmness (soft, medium, medium-firm, or extra firm) options. As with any great topper, picking the right firmness level will give you a good balance of pressure relief and support — which in turn helps with your back pain.

You can also opt to get their organic cotton cover. It makes the package more expensive and you don’t actually have to get it but if you do, we think it’s comfortable. It looks classy, too.

They don’t mention toppers in their warranty though, so we’re not sure how long you’re covered (or if this topper even has a warranty in the first place).

Other features of the PlushBeds Natural Latex Topper:

  • Free shipping. Returns aren’t accepted.
  • Extensive list of certifications including GOLS, GreenGuard Gold, Oeko-Tex, and several others.
Pros
  • Great addition to firm mattresses
  • Relieves pressure and isolates movements well
  • Sleeps cooler than regular memory foam
  • Washable pillow top cover with down alternative adds a plush feel while holding the topper in place
  • 60-day return period
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Cons
  • Memory foam layer might be too thin for some people

ViscoSoft’s mattress toppers seem to be one of the internet’s most well-liked toppers and, to us, it’s largely due to ViscoSoft itself.

Based on the customer reviews we’ve read, the company seems to genuinely care for their shoppers and they even have a 60-day return period where you can get a full refund in case you don’t like what you ordered.

Having said that, their Serene Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress Topper is also one of Amazon’s highest rated toppers. It has a high density of 3 lb/ft³ and it also feels soft. So, we think it would be an effective and durable addition to a mattress that you may find too firm.

It’s 4 inches thick made up of 2.5 inches of memory foam and 1.5 inches of down alternative. We think the memory foam layer might be a little too thin for some people, heavier ones in particular, but it does the job of relieving pressure and isolating movement pretty well.

Plus, it’s gel infused so it sleeps cooler than regular memory foam. On the other hand, the down alternative helps give your bed a more plush feel to it.

Another thing you might like about this topper is its cover. It has elastics and straps that keep the topper in place while also encasing your entire mattress.

It’s removable, of course, so it’s easy to wash as well. Everything considered, we believe the ViscoSoft Serene Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress Topper is one of the best value-for-money toppers you can find today.

Other features of the ViscoSoft Serene Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress Topper:

  • 3-year warranty
  • 60-day return period
  • With quilted pillow top cover to hold the topper in place
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Pros
  • Affordable
  • Bamboo cover helps keep topper in place, is machine washable, hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and moisture-wicking
  • Sleeps cooler than regular memory foam
  • Great for adding pressure relief to a firm mattress
  • Effective motion isolation
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Cons
  • Actual density is unspecified
  • Short warranty (1 year)

The LANGRIA 3-Inch Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper doesn’t have as many customer reviews as most of the other products on this list but, trust us, it’s one of the best toppers for back pain.

We’re not too clear on this topper’s density, however, because LANGRIA didn’t include that information on the description. Nevertheless, it should be anywhere between 2.81 to 3.2 lb/ft³, so let’s round that out to 3 lb/ft³. That’s quite a dense foam for such an affordable price!

The memory foam is infused with gel so it sleeps cooler than regular memory foam. It also comes with a bamboo cover which is not only antimicrobial and hypoallergenic, it wicks moisture off of you, too, further enhancing the toppers cooling properties.

The cover is also designed with a zipper for easy removal and washing. The bottom part also uses non-slip fabric to help keep the topper in place.

Going back to the actual topper, customer reviews indicate that it has a soft feel to it, making it a great addition to firm mattresses.

The innate conforming properties of memory foam should help relieve pain and pressure on your back while the firmer mattress below adds support. It also isolates movement well, which is great if you’re a couple sharing a bed.

Other features of the LANGRIA 3-Inch Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper:

  • 30-day return period
  • 1-year warranty
  • Free shipping
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Pros
  • Made from 100% natural Dunlop latex (hypoallergenic, dust mite-resistant, and antimicrobial)
  • Inherently durable, responsive, and sleeps cooler than most other toppers
  • Multiple firmness and thickness options
  • With optional cotton cover
  • 5-year warranty
  • Oeko-Tex, GOTS, Eco-Institute certified
Cons
  • Expensive
  • The company doesn’t accept returns

The Latex for Less Topper is made from 100% natural Dunlop latex. That means no fillers or synthetic chemicals to tone down the topper’s quality. It’s also naturally hypoallergenic, dust mite-resistant, and antimicrobial — not to mention outstandingly durable.

This topper also comes in multiple thickness and firmness options. It can either be 2 or 3 inches thick and either soft, medium, or medium firm.

The price of the topper gets higher as it gets thicker and firmer but Latex for Less generally sells at a lower price compared to other latex manufacturers. You could also choose to include the optional cotton cover in your purchase but it isn’t necessary.

Anyhow, the 2-inch option is great but if you’re a heavier person, we highly recommend you get the 3 inch version instead. For firmness, choose whatever you think is best for the feel of your mattress.

If it’s too firm, the soft option should be great; Medium-firm is great for adjusting the feel of a too-soft mattress; The medium option, according to Latex for less, adds support and plushness. However, think carefully about what version you want before buying it because the company doesn’t accept returns for their toppers.

You’ll know if you picked the right one because your mattress will feel both supportive and pressure relieving. Latex is also naturally responsive and sleeps cooler than most other types of foam material.

Other features of  The Latex for Less Topper:

  • 5-year warranty
  • Free shipping but they don’t accept returns on toppers
  • Oeko-Tex, GOTS, Eco-Institute certified
Pros
  • BBB accredited parent company (Brooklyn Bedding)
  • Multiple firmness options (great for all mattresses and sleepers)
  • Naturally antibacterial and dust mite resistant (because of latex and bamboo)
  • Pressure relieving and supportive
  • Sleeps cooler than memory foam
  • With free bamboo cover
  • Oeko-Tex certified
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Not 100% natural latex

Brooklyn Bedding — the parent company of DreamFoam Bedding — is BBB accredited business with an A+ rating. It may not be directly related but this does give us more confidence in the brand.

Nevertheless, let’s talk about the DreamFoam Bedding 3-Inch Talalay Latex Topper. It’s a blend of 60% synthetic and 40% natural latex.

This can be somewhat of a let down to those of you who’re looking for a 100% natural latex topper but, if it’s any consolation, this blend still has the dust mite and bacterial resistance of organic latex. It’s also pretty durable.

The DreamFoam 3-inch Talalay Latex Topper also comes in 3 firmness options:

  • Soft (19 ILD)
  • Medium (28 ILD)
  • Firm (36 ILD)

If you’re wondering, ILD means Indentation Load Deflection and it’s how foam manufacturers measure firmness. Given that DreamFoam Bedding 3-Inch Talalay Latex Topper has soft, medium, and firm options, it’s a great addition for virtually any mattress and any sleeper.

On that note, picking the right firmness level will give you superb pressure relief and support. Latex is also breathable — more so than memory foam — so you don’t have to worry about overheating.

Plus, it comes with a bamboo cover and bamboo fabric is naturally cool, not to mention soft and hypoallergenic (you still might be allergic to synthetic latex though).

Perhaps the one thing we don’t like about this topper is that it’s expensive. Considering how good and durable it is, however, we think it’s well worth it.

Other features of the DreamFoam Bedding (Brooklyn Bedding) 3-Inch Talalay Latex Topper:

  • 3-year warranty
  • 30-day return period (free)
  • Free shipping
  • Oeko-Tex certified
Pros
  • Affordable
  • Thick (4 inches)
  • Memory foam layer does a great job of relieving pressure and isolating movement
  • Reversible with each side giving a different balance of support and pressure relief (great for all sleeper types)
  • Generous warranty
  • CertiPUR-US® certified
Cons
  • We’re not impressed by the quality of the cover
  • Nothing to keep the topper in place
  • Thin memory foam layer
  • May sleep hot for some people
  • Returns may cost you more money

Best Price’s 4-Inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper is one of the more budget-friendly toppers on this list.

However, its memory foam layer is technically just 1.5 inches, so it’s understandable why it’s being sold at such a low price. The rest of the 2.5 inches is made up of high density foam and the entire thing comes with a zippered polyester mesh cover.

The cover is machine washable but, to be honest, we recommend spot cleaning any stains first. Its quality isn’t the best so machine washing may damage the fabric. It also doesn’t have anything to anchor the topper in place, so you might feel it move a little.

The memory foam layer, although thin, is enough to add pressure relief and motion isolation to your mattress. However, since it isn’t infused with gel, some of you might find that it sleeps hot.

Since the topper has 2 layers, it’s also reversible. From what we’ve read, positioning the topper with the memory foam layer on top feels great for side sleepers because of how it almost instantly relieves pressure.

But, if you choose the high density foam as your top layer, you will feel its supportiveness right away, making it an ideal arrangement if you sleep on your back or stomach.

Other features of the Best Price 4-Inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper:

  • 5-year warranty
  • Free shipping. Returns may/may not be subject to charges depending on the condition of the mattress.
  • CertiPUR-US® certified

Things to consider before buying mattress toppers for back pain

The short reviews should have helped you get a better picture of the toppers but here’s a short guide on things to think about to narrow down your choices even more:

How firm is your mattress?

Is it too soft or too firm? Did it feel perfect before but somehow lost its supportiveness?

Either way, these can be why you’re having back pain (or not recovering from it). If your mattress is too soft, pick a firmer topper. But, if your mattress is too firm, try a softer option.

Now, if your mattress lost its supportiveness, it might be nearing the end of its life. However, if buying a new mattress isn’t in the cards yet, a topper that has a medium to medium-firm feel to it might be able to give it new life.

How much do you weigh?

This is another thing you want to consider before making a purchase.

Your weight has a lot to do with how your bed feels to you and, consequently, how thick and firm you need your topper needs to be.

If you’re a larger person…

We recommend toppers that are at least 3 inches thick. Thinner mattresses might not be enough to support your weight.

On that note, you’re generally going to want firmer toppers, too, as they’re also there to upgrade your mattress’ support.

The best mattress topper for larger people with back pain: Sleep On Latex Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper (firm)

If you’re petite…

Then thickness isn’t really that important. Well, not when compared to the firmness of your topper.

You see, when you’re smaller, you’re also putting less pressure on your mattress. So, sleeping on a mattress that’s rated firm, or maybe even medium firm, might feel like you’re trying to sleep on hardwood floor.

In this case, we recommend softer toppers to balance out a mattress that might feel to firm for you.

The best mattress topper for petite sleepers with back pain: Advanced Sleep Solutions Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper

If you have average weight…

Then you might want to consider how you sleep instead. This brings us to the question you should ask yourself…

What’s your dominant sleeping position?

You’re either a side, stomach, or back sleeper. Each position generally asks for different things but your goal for should be to find the right balance of pressure relief and support.

We won’t be recommending toppers in this section because we don’t know how soft/firm your mattress at home feels. If you need help, you can always scroll back up to the “how firm is your mattress?” section.

If you’re a side sleeper…

You’re going to be putting a lot of pressure on your hips and shoulders. Obviously, these areas are going to need relief.

However, a mattress that’s too soft, although pressure relieving, also lets your back sink into the bed and disrupt the neutral position of your spine. This gives, if not aggravates back pain.

You’re going to want a mattress and topper combination that’s soft enough that your hips and shoulders are relieved of pressure but supportive enough to keep your spine as anatomically neutral as possible.

If you’re a back/stomach sleeper…

Then it’s all about support.

But before we get into detail, the fact that you might be sleeping on your stomach could be the reason why you’re having back issues. This position is notorious for causing back pain after all. So, if you’re a stomach sleeper, we highly recommend you try sleeping on your back or side first.

That being said, back and stomach sleepers tend to prefer firmer beds, so pick a topper that makes your mattress feel firm. If it’s too soft, your hips will sink which, in turn, causes back pain.

What are your mattress’ dimensions?

Simply said, this is important because you want your topper to fit snug under your sheets.

For example, if you’re ordering a topper for a Queen-sized mattress, your topper should be Queen-sized, too. Some manufacturers like to reduce the length and width of their toppers by an inch to fit the rounded corners of most mattresses.

We think that’s fine but 1 inch should be your maximum clearance. Any more than that and you’re going to feel it — and trust us, it’s uncomfortable.

Maintaining your mattress topper

Caring for your topper is a lot like taking care of your mattress. It involves spot cleaning, regularly washing your sheets and covers, removing debris that might attract dust mites, and possibly exposing it to UV rays.

If you want to read more about this, we have detailed instructions on how to clean your mattress here.

Conclusion

Overall, we think the Advanced Sleep Solutions Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper is the best mattress topper for back pain because it’s affordable and gives you everything you want in a soft gel memory foam — pressure relief, motion isolation, and a cooler sleeping temperature. For extra firm mattresses, this should be a practical choice.

That being said, this mattress topper doesn’t fit everyone’s needs. There are always more choices on the internet and we believe we listed some of its finest ones. In this case, I hope our guide helps you streamline your choices and you soon enjoy pain-free sleep.
