First of all, let’s clear the air: Free radicals are byproducts of your body’s natural processes, so it’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially after considering how your body has its own mechanisms to get rid of them. Human bodies are geniusly engineered that way.

What’s bad, however, is when you have too many free radicals floating around that your body can’t possibly cope.

This happens when you’re eating too much junk food, not getting enough sleep, having one too many cigarettes and alcohol, and several other unhealthy habits which lead to pent up oxidative stress and possibly why you’re gaining weight and/or having trouble losing those extra pounds.

The good news is that living a healthy lifestyle can help recalibrate your body’s systems back to health. Even better is that antioxidant rich food and drinks, including several different kinds of tea, can help flush out the toxins and greatly accelerate the process.

Having said that, I’ve listed what I think are the best detox teas for weight loss. They’re all made with research-backed ingredients and can easily be bought online or in-store, so they’re all very easy to find.

I’m going to be honest. My wife loves this more than I do but she swears by it and so do a lot of other people. Beyond its popularity, however, Fatbom Zero Tea is actually pretty good.

It doesn’t have any sort of laxative so it’s a gentle way to detox your body without spending too much of your time in the bathroom (though it still has cornflower which helps with constipation). As with all the teas on this list, this one’s loaded with antioxidants, too.

It’s got a great flavor profile as well — perhaps because of the nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves — but I personally think it’s better with a bit of honey. Oh, and beware that it has a bit of caffeine because of green tea.

What I like most about this is that the spearmint (or yerba beuna) really comes through in the tea’s mild and minty flavor. It actually makes me want to drink it not just because I have to but more so because I think it’s refreshing.

Apart from its flavor, however, its list of herbs look pretty impressive, especially for a formula that’s as compact and simple as this. It’s got tulsi, dandelion, and nettle to help you mildly clean out your colon and to help with bloating , fenugreek to help control your appetite, and rosemary and burdock for antioxidants.

Overall, I think it’s an effective but gentle way to lose weight and promote health.

At the very top of this tea’s ingredients list are senna and honeybush which are known as natural laxatives and cures for constipation. Further down are diuretics such as dandelion, sarsaparilla, and nettle. In that sense, I’m confident that Hint Wellness 14 Day Detox Tea is great for bloating but you also have to be better for frequent bathroom trips (perhaps more so than most other teas on this list).

Beyond just countering bloating, however, are several herbs with scientifically proven antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and liver-healthy benefits including burdock, dandelion, rosehips, lemongrass, and milk thistle

This might be one of the best tasting and best smelling detox teas I’ve ever had. It’s even great served as iced tea. Taste and aroma are just one of the reasons why I think it’s one of the best detox teas for weight loss though.

Another is that except that natural flavors, literally ALL of its ingredients have powerful antioxidants — from green tea down to pomegranate! And, along with the ability to fight oxidative stress, it helps you cleanse your system with a combination of diuretics, laxatives, and gut-healthy herbs.

Baetea Detox can either come as a 14- or 28-day bag. The ingredients don’t change though, so they’re both going to give you the same effects. Having said that, I suggest you try the 14-day bag first and, if you like what you’re getting, get the bigger pouch the next time you buy.

Now, as far as I can tell, this detox tea has a 3-pronged strategy towards weight loss:

  • It’s packed with antioxidants which help jump start your metabolism and digestion
  • It’s got herbs such as rooibos, green tea, and garcinia cambogia with research-backed weight loss benefits
  • And, it’s got plenty of caffeinated herbs such as green tea, oolong, matcha, and guarana which not only enhance thermogenesis and energy, but might also help keep your mind sharp

On that note, those benefits are why I think it’s one of the best detox teas in the market. But, to most other people, it simply tastes great. It’s sweet and sour, so it doesn’t actually taste like tea.

In my opinion, Yogi is one of the best brands for tea in general; not just detox. But, since we’re on the topic, their detox tea is simply amazing.

They use ingredients that promote gut and liver health — such as ginger, licorice, burdock, dandelion, cardamom, black pepper, and long pepper — which, in turn, helps optimize your body rid itself of excess free radicals.

To go with a healthier gut and liver, Yogi Detox Tea also comes with a couple of diuretics to further help with bloating. It’s also caffeine free so if you’re sensitive to the stimulant, this should be welcome news.

This is one of Amazon’s best-selling detox teas. And, based on the customer reviews I’ve read, it’s probably one of the fastest acting ones, too. With senna as its top ingredient, a known natural laxative, it’s really not surprising.

In spite of that, I think it’s actually quite gentle on your stomach thanks to gut-healthy herbs like papaya leaves, ginger, peppermint, and rosehips. Just be prepared for frequent bathroom trips during the first few days.

Also, it’s caffeine free. And, with chamomile, it also helps you relax so it’s a great drink to have before sleeping.

Unlike a lot of the detox teas on the market (including some of the products here), Traditional Medicinals Organic EveryDay Detox doesn’t bombard you with so many ingredients. Instead, it limits its formula to just 5 all organic herbs.

The simplicity of its blend is amazing to me because I, and apparently a lot of people, think it’s just as, if not more effective than any other detox tea. All 5 of its ingredients are rich in antioxidants but you also get liver protection from schisandra and lycium (goji berries), and perhaps even stress relief and a better mood from licorice and, again, lycium and schisandra.

The taste could take some getting used to, however, but a majority of the reviews I’ve read say it’s actually quite tasty.

Twinings is not only one of Amazon’s best selling tea brands, it’s probably one of the most successful ones in the entire world. I mean, at some point, you and I probably had Twining tea bags in the pantry. Heck, I still have some of them right now!

That being said, their lemon and ginger herbal tea comes at a very reasonable price, it’s mild and smooth but still tasty, and most importantly, it’s an effective detox agent. Lemon peels, lemongrass, ginger, and blackberry leaves all have antioxidant properties that also help protect your gut and liver.

As I’m sure you can already tell, this detox tea uses dandelion root as its core ingredient — and I think that’s great. It’s got great potential as an antioxidant after all, and it might even help with digestion. Talk about hitting 2 birds with 1 stone, eh?

Anyhow, Kiss Me Organics Dandelion Root Tea also has hibiscus and cinnamon in its blend which not only add more to the tea’s antioxidant properties, but also help protect the liver from oxidative stress.

Conclusion

Different detox teas have different characteristics. Some are more aggressive while some are milder; some retain their earthy flavors while some add other ingredients to specifically change the taste. So, I guess the bottom line is that you find what works best for you.

Personally, I find myself going back to Fatbom’s Zero Tea because it’s gentler on my stomach and I like how it tastes. You may have different opinions though, and that’s okay. After all, you’ve got 9 other detox teas on this list to choose from.
